In the Stars September 3-10, 2017…shining light on the astrology of the week: Full Moon

The Great Solar Eclipse certainly stirred up an intense Hurricane Harvey over a huge area of Southeast Texas and more, revisiting to make double the trouble. Now, Hurricane Irma is coming along close behind to punctuate the Power of Water and Wind. Political chaos in the United States continues. The coming week unfolds with volatility, a Full Moon in Pisces at mid-week, conjunct Neptune. Pisces is a water sign, ruled by the Neptune. The symbolism in this Full Moon is strongly linked to excessive water issues, so the hurricane parade is not surprising. Thankfully, there is a lot of powerful, grounded energy to help people manage the problems.

Saturn has just turned direct in motion, and Mercury will be direct on Tuesday, leaving five other planets retrograde: Pluto, Neptune, Uranus, Chiron, and Juno. Mercury will be in its shadow phase until September 19, still operating somewhat like a retrograde Mercury, so there is still time for review, reconsideration, and re-working.

Sunday is framed for friendship. The Aquarius Moon calls for freedom and independence, and for new thoughts and ideas. Mercury and Mars are conjunct, and in a benefic trine to Uranus: This complex facilitates energized conversations that may result in brilliant ideas. This is the theme of the week ahead, though diminishing in effect as the week progresses. The Mars-Uranus trine is like a jolt of triple-shot espresso on your life. If you have been thinking about starting an exercise regime, giving up a bad habit, or starting a big project, this is a great week to do it. Give this week the works!

Monday, Labor Day, bustles with cosmic activity–mostly positive–and the power of the super-charged Mars-Uranus trine described above. Use the potential of this powerful energy to make things happen. Don’t waste it all on a holiday barbeque. Mercury is slowing down before it turns direct tomorrow, so be patient with mix-ups. Take this last opportunity to re-think plans and projects.

Tuesday sports two important shifts: Mars ingresses into Virgo tropically, and Mercury turns direct. Mars in Virgo is a determined, precise, focused energy. Those with Mars in Virgo are on top of their game; the rest of us can get a boost of that efficient, grounded energy through October 23. Mars-in-Virgo combined with the Sun-in-Virgo, and the Mars-Uranus trine this week is a capable and driven bundle of possibility. Seemingly impossible jobs can be accomplished efficiently.

The Full Moon in Pisces occurs just after midnight Wednesday on the West Coast, lighting the skies and our lives. The Full Moon is a good time of the month for events and connections, as we get the greatest illumination from the heavens. Yet this Full Moon is conjunct Neptune, which can add confusion and cloud our perceptions. It is also a magical, imaginative energy that can open our hearts. Consider how you could help ease the suffering of hurricane victims through contributions and prayers.

Also on Wednesday, Pallas Athena, the asteroid symbolizing strategy, arts, and culture, is exactly trine the Sun. This amplifies our ability to solve problems, creatively. The Moon is Void of Course at 1:29 p.m. PDT for the rest of the day. Kick back, relax and enjoy a mystical evening in another night of Full Moon light. It is a good night to watch a magical movie.

Bounce out of bed early and get going Thursday morning. The cardinal fire Aries Moon signals a time for action. Friday is an testy, perhaps stressful day, as the Moon highlights the powerful energy of the Pluto-Jupiter-Uranus T-square. However, there is also a benefic Grand Trine between Pluto, the Sun, and Pallas Athena. There is a great potential in all this energy—potential for movement and breakthrough. There may also be challenges and volatility. Keep moving and step into your positive potential.

Although we may awake abruptly on Saturday (jolted by the Moon’s conjunction with Uranus), a few hours later the Moon moves into its sign of exaltation, Taurus, where it is content to slow down and enjoy the sensual pleasures of life. Steady, practical, grounded approaches are fueled by the Sun-Mars trine in earth signs. Mercury enters Virgo, its sign of exaltation. With two planets in their earth signs of exaltation, the day is graced with sensibility and the ability to handle almost anything!

Sunday the Taurus Moon eases us into a golden day. The Moon joins Pallas Athena and forms a Grand Trine with the Sun and Pluto, a powerful combination. In the face of any challenge, we will feel capable and confident, and can manage life well. Celebrate this day by treating your senses to delicious food, inspiring music, sweet smells, and beauty, and touch someone you love.

The Week in Short:

Sunday: A day for friendship and conversation. Consider other points of view.

Monday: Bustling, powerful day. Make things happen!

Tuesday: Mercury turns direct and Mars enters Virgo. Seemingly impossible jobs can be accomplished. Full Moon just after midnight PDT.

Wednesday: Creative problem solving possible. Moon VoC at 1:29 p.m., so after that take it easy in the light of the Full Moon (at 12:03 a.m. PDT Wednesday). Good night to watch a movie.

Thursday: Bounce out of bed early and get going! Make it an awesome day!

Friday: Edgy, perhaps stressful day, but one ripe for breakthrough and progress.

Saturday: Day graced with beauty and the ability to handle almost anything.

Sunday: Golden Day! Powerful Grand Earth Trine! Celebrate your senses.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it’s difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
